World’s largest sports festival Olympics, has a colorful start in Tokyo

TOKYO: The world’s largest sports festival, the Olympics, got off to a colorful start in Tokyo, with spectators performing brilliantly at the opening ceremony without spectators.

According to the details, after many years of preparations and hurdles, the Tokyo Olympics officially started on Friday at 8 pm Japanese time, with 950 foreign dignitaries, diplomats, sponsors and members of the International Olympic Committee in attendance.

Due to the ongoing corona virus epidemic, organizers are extremely busy, spectators are barred from most sports venues, and participants are severely restricted. More than 11,000 athletes from 207 countries and territories will compete for 339 medals in 33 sports.

A fourth state of emergency has been declared in the Japanese capital, with athletes and sports officials already confirming dozens of victims. Organizers said on Friday that three athletes from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands had been killed. 

After arriving in Tokyo, he tested positive for the corona virus. The total number of certified sports-related victims has risen to 106 since July 1.

There was also controversy over the opening ceremony, the director of which was fired the day before the ceremony for his remarks about the Holocaust in the 1990s.

Earlier, a musician resigned because he had been criticized for abusing his classmates during his student days, some of whom were disabled. Meanwhile, the Olympic torch has reached central Tokyo, where it was received at the metropolitan government building. Its long journey across the country began in March from Fukushima.
