Door-to-door vaccination launched in five cities of Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to launch door-to-door Coronavirus prevention vaccination campaign from July 26 in five cities of the province Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan and Rawalpindi to meet the targets set by the National Command and Operations Center. 

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid and Punjab Chief Secretary at the Civil Secretariat on Saturday.The Minister informed the meeting that the NCOC has set a target of vaccinating 40% of the population over 18 years of age in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Multan and 70% of Rawalpindi population against Corona virus by August 14.He said that the number of vaccination centers in Lahore was being increased for the convenience of more people.

Dr yasmin Rashid said vaccinations and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) is the only solution to prevent corona.Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik has directed the administration and police to extend full cooperation to the health department teams during the special drive.He also directed to set up vaccine camps around all teaching hospitals.

Primary and Secondary Health Care Secretary Sarah Aslam briefed the meeting that the department has prepared a “micro plan” for the special vaccination campaign and two mobile teams will work for door-to-door vaccine campain in each union council.

He said that 566 teams would be formed in Faisalabad, 224 in Gujranwala, 250 in Multan, 356 in Rawalpindi and 528 in Lahore so that people could be vaccinated at home.
