Saudi Foreign Minister will visit Pakistan on July 27
ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud will visit Pakistan on July 27.His Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi had requested to meet him in several meetings and was assured in May this year. The announcement came shortly after the release of Pakistani prisoners jailed in Saudi Arabia for petty crimes.
The move was promised by Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman during his visit to Pakistan in 2019.Tensions have been running high between the two allies over Pakistan’s demand that Saudi Arabia convene a special meeting of OIC foreign ministers to discuss India’s involvement in occupied Kashmir.
“The Saudi foreign minister is expected to pay a one-day visit to Islamabad next week to review bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields,” Tahir Ashrafi, special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Middle East, told Arab News.
“Prince Faisal is due to arrive on Tuesday, a Saudi embassy official said.During his last visit to Saudi Arabia in May, Prime Minister Imran Khan invited Saudi Prince Muhammad bin Salman and agreed to lead a delegation to prepare for the Crown Prince’s visit. Prince Farhan Al Saud will visit Pakistan.
