Fear of Taliban, night curfew imposed in Afghanistan

KABUL: A night curfew has been imposed in Afghanistan to curb the Taliban’s rapid advance.

According to Ahmad Zia Zia, deputy spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, the curfew will be in effect between 10pm and 4am local time, according to the foreign news agency. He said that night curfew has been imposed in 31 out of 34 provinces of the country. It should be noted that since the announcement of the withdrawal of US troops, the Taliiban have seized several important areas and laid siege to several provincial capitals.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement that a night curfew had been imposed to curb the violence and restrict the movement of the Taliiban.  No curfew was imposed in Kabul, Panjshir and Nangarhar.

Afghan officials have claimed to have killed more than 260 Taliiban fighters in fighting in several provinces in the past 24 hours after the Eid al-Adha holiday was over.
